Who we are
We are a community-led movement in support of the Tricycle we love. Our campaign is made up almost entirely of local residents who love the Tricycle. With few exceptions, all are local people from Brent and Camden, theatre-lovers and loyal friends of the Tricycle, some of them founding members and all concerned to save it.
Martin Fisher, Tricycle campaign lead
Martin first visited the Tricycle in 2011 and promptly fell in love with it. It was welcoming and had a particular charm that the quirky name encapsulated. He has lived near the theatre ever since and as a regular theatre-goer, enjoyed many evenings at the Tricycle until it changed its name. Like many others, he was deeply saddened by the abrupt change of name.
Inspired by the volume of people who felt bereaved by the rebrand, Martin resolved to bring their voices together in the hope of making a difference for the future of Kilburn. Martin thus became the accidental leader of Kilburn’s campaign to save the Tricycle.
Tricycle campaigners
Since Spring 2018, many people have come together to champion the Tricycle Theatre and endeavour to save its name. Whether it was by standing outside the theatre with a clipboard, manning stalls at Summer festivals and farmers markets, signing our petition, helping us to create and promote our website and social media channels, writing and distributing our newsletter and leaflets, filming a voxpop, designing infographics, writing blog posts, writing letters to the editor or indeed writing articles for your editor, we are very grateful.
Thanks in particular to Richard, Jean, Judy, Ags, Sally, Alison, Paul, Maggie, Phil, Linda, Frankie, Celia, Terry, Mr S, Lynda, Rupert, Glenis, Alex, Bosco, Philippa, Heidi, Duncan, Paula, Alan, Patrick, Wendy, Rob, Rosalie, the secret Triker, Aleks, Mary, Pam, the lady at No.58, Yvonne, Tim, Nick, Candice, Sandy, Nicola, Jody, Eugene, Bev, Jason, Marion and Anna. And I can’t not mention Ken Chubb, his late wife Shirley Barrie and Martin Cook who started the Tricycle all those years ago
